Brenda Melara is a first-generation Hispanic American born and raised in New Orleans. She has worked in Hispanic/Latin media for over 30 years and is currently Editor-in-Chief of Que Pasa, a bilingual newspaper focusing on art, culture, and entertainment and Senior Producer for Hispanic Flavor Productions. Her work experience includes journalism, television, radio, music, artist promotion and bilingual education. She thanks her parents, who immigrated to the United States from Guatemala, for instilling in her the importance of education and the richness and beauty of the Latino culture. Brenda is also an active member of Cervantes Fundación Hispanoamericana de Arte, a non-profit that promotes the Latino arts and culture. She graduated from the University of New Orleans with a BA in Drama & Communications and in her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, listening to all genres of music and spending time with her three sons.
